Update: The body of missing Kalona teen Colton Allen was discovered Thursday afternoon. 

The Mid-Prairie school district announced," due to the student death in our district, we currently have counselors, administrators, clergy and other support personnel available in the high school library until 8 p.m. Additional support services will be available in the high school library on Friday morning from 9 to noon."

A release from the Washington County Sheriff said more information would be released after the completion of an autopsy and investigation.

"The Washington County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers and numerous jurisdictions that assisted in the search," the release said. "We ask that you keep the victim's family in your thoughts and prayers. 

Original: A 16-year-old Kalona teenager was reported missing on Wednesday night in rural Kalona.

Colton Allen, a Mid-Prairie junior, was reported missing at 7:42 p.m. on Wednesday according to a release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Allen was last seen at a gathering east of the 1500 block of Highway 1 approximately 4.4 miles south of Kalona. 

He was last seen in a swim suit around 6 p.m. Allen is 5'7" and 185 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. 

Anyone having contact with a person matching this description Wednesday evening or Thursday in the Richmond/Kalona area is urged to report it to the Washington County Sheriff at 319-653-2107.

Numerous emergency agencies from multiple jurisdictions have been working in the area and continue to search.
